They have pioneered linear fiber optic transmission technology used in the fields of aerospace, defense, industrial, transmission, satellite, and more. In order to showcase an advanced product line to a sophisticated audience, they wanted a social media strategy that would grow their brand reputation and highlight their cutting-edge technologies.

Solution

Bright Age capitalized on the targeting abilities of Facebook for their social media campaign. Facebook Page Likes campaigns were developed targeting only those who have a master’s or doctorate degree, with a research interest in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or fiber-optic communication. This narrows down the audience into a relatively small group, however it ensures that the people who become fans of the page are those that will continue to follow and engage with the company.

Since EMCORE’s products are used in so many fascinating fields, images of jets, planes, ships, and satellites and were used in the ads. Bright Age was able to A/B test which image was getting page likes at the lowest cost and optimize the campaign accordingly.

EMCORE also needed to educate this audience about their business and products. Bright Age regularly created and shared content that was relevant to EMCORE and their industry, including customized graphics of product showcases, team highlights, trade show exhibits, news article links, press releases, holiday posts, and more. Since EMCORE’s product line is so vast and complex, social media posting provided an opportunity to inform the fans about the functionality and purposes of the products. On top of this, it provided a way for them to make a personal connection with their fans and customers. Many of the posts that were shared featured EMCORE team members at their trade booths or celebrating together at a company holiday party.

Results

Bright Age executed this Facebook marketing strategy over the course of two years and the results were tremendous. During the first year of the campaign, Facebook Page Likes increased by 157%. Page Likes increased by another 49% in the following year. As the audience grew, the engagement grew with it. There was a staggering 173% increase in Facebook Reactions in the first year, and another 29% increase during the second year. With an ever-growing engaged audience and regular sharing of content that is both educational and visually appealing, EMCORE established its presence on Facebook as a leader in fiber optic technologies.
